Did you know, with the release of the SDPA’s new conference sessions recording packages and our two new PI Programs, in addition to our existing JDPA CME exams, and our in-person summer and fall dermatology conferences, that the SDPA offers over 100 hours of CME to choose from? Our goal is to provide members, and those interested in becoming members, with a variety of opportunities to gain dermatology specific CME. To that end, our Distance CME and Conference CME committees work alongside the leading educators and lecturers in the country to ensure that we provide cutting edge, useful, and fun continuing education.
Conference Video Recording Packages
Over the years the SDPA has had many requests from members unable to attend conferences for conference-related CMEs from afar. To meet this demand, the SDPA’s Distance and Conference CME committees set out filming each individual session and developing an online package of our 2016 Annual Summer Dermatology Conference in Austin, Texas. We are thrilled to be able to release the first packaging of conference recordings. Learners can begin watching the conference online now and gaining CME as they go.
Similar to the main conferences, video recordings will be sold as the full conference package and members can gain up to 23.5 hours of CME from the Austin recordings. Learners will be able to watch purchased session recordings at their leisure until October of 2017. The SDPA plans to release a package of session recordings approximately 3-4 months after the conclusion of each summer and fall event.
We have also recorded and released our first ever Fundamentals of Dermatology Workshop (9 CME hours) as a purchasable package through our new learning system. This recorded course will serve as foundational knowledge for those with zero to five years’ experience in the specialty of dermatology. This course has been designed to walk the attendee through the topics of skin anatomy, structure, and common diagnoses crucial to a foundational knowledge of dermatology. Key items to be covered include: biopsies, contact dermatitis, eczema/atopic dermatitis, acne/rosacea, benign and malignant skin tumors, rashes/itching, hair and nail disorders, and common cutaneous infections.
Diplomate Fellowship Update!
Over this past weekend (October 7-9, 2016) the SDPA’s Distance CME Committee continued its efforts to build the new Diplomate Fellowship. The Diplomate Fellowship will replace our former Distance Learning Initiative (DLI). The Fellowship will be our premier educational tool for both new and experienced dermatology PAs to gain education and training in the field. To ensure that the program meets the highest standards of education and training, the SDPA has embarked on a detailed path of development. Supported by professional psychometricians and dedicated SDPA leaders and staff, the program is coming together nicely. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to completing the program and providing members with the opportunity to gain education and achieve Diplomate status.
Happy Learning!
