Society of Dermatology Physician Associates Brings Leading Experts to Charlotte for Groundbreaking Insights at the Itch Conference

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia–March 21, 2025—The Society of Dermatology Physician Associates (SDPA) will host its inaugural “Itch Conference” on March 27-28, 2025, bringing together some of the brightest minds in dermatology to Charlotte, North Carolina, for powerful discussions and industry-shaping insights. This premier event, designed for healthcare professionals, researchers, and thought leaders, will cover the latest advancements in dermatological care with a focus on understanding and treating itch-related conditions, such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, prurigo nodularis, and chronic spontaneous urticaria. Sessions will cover the topic of itch from head to toe, starting with the basics--definitions, pathophysiology, and patient assessment—moving to more complex clinical cases like chronic pruritus (itch) of unknown origin.

SDPA is pleased to welcome Gil Yosipovitch, MD, Professor of Dermatology at the Miller School of Medicine at University of Miami, and Director of the Miami Itch Center, as Conference Medical Director. Dr. Yosipovitch, known as “The Godfather of Itch,” is an internationally recognized leader whose research has significantly advanced the understanding of itch mechanisms and treatment strategies. His sessions promise to provide groundbreaking insights that will benefit both seasoned practitioners and those new to the field of dermatology.

“The Itch Conference is a must-attend event for anyone looking to gain the most up-to-date, evidence-based information about the science of itch and its treatment,” said Dr. Yosipovitch. “This year’s program features a stellar lineup of experts who will discuss the latest breakthroughs and practical applications for improving patient care.”

Joining Dr. Yosipovitch is Amber Blair, MMS, PA-C, SDPA President and local DermPA currently practicing at Dermatology, Laser and Vein Specialists of the Carolinas, PLLC, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Blair is passionate about advancing the field of dermatology and improving patient outcomes, particularly in areas of chronic conditions like itch. She will be presenting on the role of PAs in managing dermatologic care, with a focus on innovative treatment options for chronic itch.

“As a DermPA, I’m excited to be part of the SDPA’s Inaugural Itch Conference,” said Blair. “This event will offer incredible opportunities for collaboration, education, and networking with experts who are leading the way in dermatology. I look forward to sharing insights and learning from colleagues in the field as we work together to improve care for patients experiencing chronic itch.”

In addition to Dr. Yosipovitch and Blair, attendees will hear from a range of esteemed leaders in the field, covering topics such as innovative treatment modalities, cutting-edge research, and holistic approaches to managing chronic itch.
