The Society of Dermatology Physician Associates (SDPA) Hosts Annual Fall Conference in Las Vegas, Promoting Skin Health Awareness with Free Skin Checks and Offering Dermatology Providers Education at All Levels 

Las Vegas, NV, November 14-17, 2024 — The Society of Dermatology Physician Associates (SDPA) is set to host its 22nd Annual Fall Conference in Las Vegas, while celebrating its 30th year, welcoming dermatology professionals from around the country for an immersive, four-day event focused on advancing knowledge in dermatology and supporting excellence in patient care. This year’s conference emphasizes skin health awareness, offering free skin checks to the public and educational opportunities for Physician Associates (PAs) in dermatology.

Event Highlights:

Free Skin Checks on The Sun Bus 
Open to the public on Thursday, November 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., The Sun Bus, a mobile skin cancer awareness and prevention unit, will provide complimentary skin checks and educational resources. The Sun Bus will be parked outside the conference host hotel Fontainebleau Las Vegas | Luxury Resort Hotel, on Elvis Presley Boulevard. This initiative aims to increase awareness of sun safety and empower individuals to detect early signs of skin cancer. This event is presented by the Dermatology Physician Associates Foundation (DPAF), the philanthropic arm of the SDPA, with sponsorship support from SciBase. 

Specialized Training for Dermatology Professionals
Attendees will have the chance to participate in a pre-conference hands-on workshop, Suturing Techniques for Derm PAs™, led by Douglas DiRuggiero, DMSc, MHS, PA-C, on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This hands-on session provides PAs with practical skills in advanced suturing, critical for dermatology professionals.

Keynote Speaker to Wow Attendees
Award-winning illusionist and bestselling author Harris, III, will deliver the keynote lecture, “Start with Wow!” laying the groundwork for how leading with “wow” leads to game-changing thinking, culture, and innovation.

Emerging DermPA™ Scholars Program
As part of SDPA’s commitment to professional growth, the Emerging DermPA™ Scholars Program will host dedicated sessions on Wednesday, followed by a Scholars and Mentors Reception in the evening. The program, supported by Johnson & Johnson, offers early-career DermPAs an invaluable opportunity to engage with experienced mentors, gain insights into the industry, and explore career pathways.

Renowned Dermatologist & Acne Expert, Serves as Conference Medical Director
SDPA is thrilled to welcome Conference Medical Director Hilary Baldwin, MD. Dr, Baldwin, founding board member and second president of the American Acne and Rosacea Society, will share her expertise during the following lectures:

Engaging Educational Sessions and Product Theaters
A wide range of educational sessions will cover the latest dermatology trends and treatment strategies, including acne management, rosacea, immunobullous disorders, and more, with breakout tracks designed to meet attendees’ needs at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Additionally, attendees can benefit from various product theaters sponsored by industry leaders, featuring new treatment innovations, emerging therapies, and patient care solutions.

Social and Networking Events
From the First Timer’s Reception, attendees have multiple opportunities to network and celebrate the community of dermatology PAs. On Friday evening, the conference will host its Welcome Reception “Bubbles & Bowties,” a themed gathering to connect, enjoy live entertainment, and foster camaraderie within the DermPA™ community. The SDPA Annual Fall Conference serves as an essential gathering for DermPAs™ seeking to enhance their expertise, expand their professional networks, and stay at the forefront of dermatologic care advancements.
