SDPA Member Spotlight: ROSEMARY SON, MPAS, PA-C

Rosemary Son, MPAS, PA-C Director at LargeSDPA Board of Directors

Why did you become a Derm PA?  Truth be told, I never set out to be in dermatology at all- I wanted to work in cardiology to use my dietitian background, but as luck would have it there was an opportunity in dermatology at UT Southwestern to work at the Parkland dermatology clinic. I've been there since I graduated.

If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why? I would really love to go back and meet Julia Child; I've never wanted to time travel before I read her memoir and biography and after that I wish I could audit her cooking classes in Paris in the 1950's.

What’s your Dermatology passion? I love being able to help people who would have no access to dermatology care otherwise and offering them life changing treatments that are cutting edge that improve their health and quality of life.

What do you like doing in your spare time? I discovered horses later in life and I'm obsessed with horseback riding. I ride as often as my schedule permits. I also love having dinner parties with friends and hanging out with my husband and our chickens in the backyard. Believe it or not they like to snuggle!

What would you tell your 13-year-old self? Girl, it gets better.  You don't have to be good at math to practice medicine.  Also, good job with wearing sunscreen, 40-something-me really appreciates that.
